Haridwar Kumbh 2027: dates and pilgrim guide
14 January to 20 April 2027. Ten snan days, three Amrit Snans, and lakhs of pilgrims on the ghats of Haridwar. Here is what you need to know, from a family that has fed pilgrims here since 1968.

Getting to Har Ki Pauri
Most pilgrims arrive by train or bus. From Haridwar railway station, Har Ki Pauri is about 2 km. The usual walk goes past Shiv Murti, Lalita Rao Pul (where we are), Moti Bazaar and up Upper Road to Brahma Kund.
- On snan days, vehicles are usually stopped well before the ghats. Be ready to walk.
- Roads may run one way for people on foot. Follow police and volunteers.
- E-rickshaws work on the edges of the mela area, not near the ghats on big days.
- The night before and the early morning of an Amrit Snan are the most crowded hours.
Pilgrim checklist
- Aadhaar or another photo ID for everyone
- Hotel or dharamshala booked in advance
- Dry clothes and a bag for wet ones
- Small bills and coins for prasad and parking
- Water bottle and light snacks
- Phone power bank
- Medicines for elders, with a note of their names and your number
- A fixed meeting point if anyone gets separated
Pick a meeting point that is easy to find. Chotiwala, Lalita Rao Pul works well: it is on the main road from the station, near Shiv Murti, and open till 11 PM.

How far is Har Ki Pauri from Haridwar railway station?
About 2 km. From the station you walk past Shiv Murti and Lalita Rao Pul, then along Upper Road past Moti Bazaar. On snan days, follow police diversions.
