Chotiwala Restaurant was started in 1968 by our elders to serve the pilgrims and tourists who come to Haridwar. Most of them were families on a budget, so the plan was to give them good vegetarian food at a reasonable cost.
We still follow that. The food is cooked to taste the way people expect from a family kitchen, and the prices are kept fair for pilgrims, tourists and the people of Haridwar who eat with us every week.
How we work
- We use locally grown vegetables as much as we can.
- The kitchen and dining hall are cleaned through the day, not just at closing.
- When we change something, we ask how it will feel for the person at the table.
What "Chotiwala" means
The choti, or shikha, is the sacred tuft worn by our pandits. The Chotiwala on our logo is a pandit ji offering you a thali, our way of saying "aap ka swagat hai".
